“You may think that you’ve done a good deed, one to save your soul maybe? But, you haven’t. Allowing that man, up there, to live...when he’s had a Fallen One inside him? Don’t you think it would have eaten away at his soul?”
Trying my hardest not to cough at the thought, I bowed my head. She was right, maybe the real Frederik would go mad, would be a psychopath from having such darkness in him, but that wasn’t my problem now.
“No, it’s not your problem...but this is. I was trying to think of a way to ask you a favour. But, now, you will do as I tell you, no questions asked. You’ve ruined my chances at returning the whole two hundred souls that defied me...so, you’ll do this one thing to make it up to me. And, don’t panic, I’ve spoken to your grandfather, Thor, and he’s in complete agreement with me. In fact, he asked me to let you know he’s thinking of you.”
Freya had to take a breath, her words spilling out too fast for her to keep up. Not that gods needed air to breath, but their human form was an exact copy of the real thing. If she would calm down for one moment, she would be fine.
“Shut up thinking,” she snapped.
Her fury rolled off her, targeted at me. She had been planning something with Thor, apparently. Now I had fucked up, it seemed she had the upper hand.
“Yes, I do. You’ve forgotten recently who made the promise for you to live with us in the heavens. If I retract my word, none of the other gods can invite you. So, you better listen to me well, Thunder Hunter, if you want to see Thor again.”
Lifting my head, I stared into her face. She stepped closer, her eyes unwavering from my gaze. I could feel it, a damning request that would probably change my life forever. Instead of victory, I wouldn’t be celebrating tonight.
My body turned cold as a snarky grin landed on Freya’s face. She could feel my fear. The power she had over me would make me hate her forever. My destiny was in her hands, and I had never felt so powerless.
“Trygger, you may hate me now, but that’s about to change. And, probably not for the good.”
I kept still as she reached me and raised a hand. Being the same height, our gaze was on equal level. Air rushed into my lungs as she placed her fingers over my heart. Somehow, I knew that whatever she wanted would be far worse than killing anyone.
“Thunder Hunter, I order you to impregnate Chloe so that both mine and Thor’s bloodlines live on in the form of a human being. I will not let our descendants die out.”
The breath I held rushed from my lungs until my knees hit the floor. No, I couldn’t do it. I couldn’t make Chloe do it. Give her a child?
“If you don’t do as I ask, and as your grandfather wishes, within two years,” Freya crowed, almost gloating at my weakness. “...both you and Chloe will die.”

This book was a test for me to write because I felt like I had brain fog throughout, but I’m pleased that I was able to continue Trygger’s story.
Thank you to Launa Rae. You’re a true fan, but more than that, you’re a friend.
Thank you to Corinne for always listening to me when I’m worrying about what to write.
